Peace

This is a sad post but I just realized that this is the best I could do for the situation I'm about to discuss.

"Humans kill humans, it is not guns that kill humans." This was the phrase that was uttered to me for the umpteenth time after a short discussion about gun control. Well that's the sad reality of the situation. My dream is that we as humans just put our differences aside or rather solve them in a way that doesn't result in loss of life. What am I getting at here? The Gaza situation. I'm talking about the children who lost their lives or who were affected by this crisis in the past few months. Or maybe change that previous sentence to present tense. I mean how long can we allow this to go on for? Many of us just read through the articles or see pictures of the sad events happening in 'that' part of the world also knowing that for the majority of the people, nothing can help the situation, not even a like, a share or a retweet. I mean when you have a warm bed to sleep in and a roof over your head with no fear whatsoever that you might not wake because your carcass is lying all over the place in numerable or innumerable pieces?...it doesn't really matter at that point. I'm not taking sides or anything, as a matter of fact I'm still trying to get my head around the origins of the crisis. What I know is that this is just not right. Can we just not love one another regardless of our differences? The mere fact that innocent masses are falling on either side is a cause of concern.

No one chooses to be born in a certain part of the world, let it not be the a crime for someone's to simply exist.

PicCollage

I have known about this App for quite sometime but I just got to appreciate the flexibility that it provides and ample tools to be creative with. Additional advantages being high picture quality and small files. Below are some of the images I have created so far:

Title Change

So my blog has gone through a fair amount of 'Blogmorphosis' - I've changed a number of things since I started it from the title to the themes and concept. I just had a light bulb moment this morning and I am quite excited about this new angle that I have decided to take of activating the imagination!! Let's see how that goes :)

I believe

I believe

At such a point in my life, in space and time
I am seated at my desk
With the work I’m supposed to execute put aside
To write about this brief belief story
One that ignites a perpetual flame in my heart
I cannot begin to say how many times I have tried
Tried to get a seat at the table
But what I only seem to take home
Are stories that begin with ‘Thank you for your interest’
And end with ‘We wish you the best in your future endeavours’
I am glad to say that I will take that up in good faith
To soldier on because I believe a ceasefire is nigh.

A moment or two

Just taking a moment to remember those who have gone before us. I have lost a few close relatives/colleagues this year and in as much as we might not want to talk about it, we will depart one day. Life is a precious gift which needs to be realized, celebrated and the onus is on you to make the best of it.

Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

A special dedication to Brian, Fred, Tatenda and Lufuno.

The Miracle of Life

From egg and sperm to zygote then to blastocyst and the rest YOU!...The origin of each and every living person on earth. Developed within the depths of a womb until the time of delivery was nigh...:) All life is indeed precious.

I also came across this TED talk by Alexander Tsiaras on powerful medical visualization, showing human development from conception to birth and beyond. Amazing!

Journey to Polymathism

“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.”
